Migration Assistant hanging

Trying to use Migration Assistant to move Carbon Copy Clone on an OS 10.5.8 system from a new external USB 2 HD to a brand new MacBook Pro running 10.6.X. It started saying it would take almost 2 hours to complete, but now it's been stuck on "9 minutes remaining" for over an hour.
I wonder what I should do?
